Trek in Andorra-Spain and France

Description Schedule Dates Photos Guestbook

A superb trek with seven days of horse riding in the very high mountains for riders thirsty for adventure. On some days, our baggage is carried by mule and on the horses, as we do not have motorised accompaniment on all of the days. During this trek, we will be exploring the frontiers, following the routes of smugglers and traders. We will pass through the heart of the valley where our herd of brood mares pass their summers. There are numerous sections of a technical nature, as well as stunning scenery for nature-loving adventurers.

Saturday: reception of the riders at the gte of Camurac.

Sunday: Camurac (gte) to Chioula (refuge)
A first day spent in high mountains with stunning views over the central Pyrenees. We pass below the Scaramus rock formation and arrive at the Chioula refuge where we spend the night. 4 hours of riding.

Monday: Chioula (refuge) to Beille (trapper camp)
From the refuge, we stay on the ridges to benefit from the exceptional landscapes and descend to Unac and Luzenac. We pass along the Luzenac valley, where our brood mares spend their summer, then rejoin, often off-track, the heights of Beille, at more than 2000m altitude, where we will spend the night in the Angaka trapper camp where we will sleep in traditional housing (yurt, trapper cabins ) 6 hours of riding.

Tuesday: Beille (trapper camp) to Refuge de Ruhles (refuge)
We will stay at very high altitude on the peaks, then begin some technical passages and off-track sections to cross the Didorte pass, continuing to the Ruhles refuge where we spend the night. The view of the Fontargente lakes and the Pic du Ruhles are fantastic. We do not have the 4x4 with us at this point, and our baggage mule Tartine will carry our collective affairs, as well as each rider having a waterproof bag for their overnight affairs. Calou, the refuge keeper, will prepare our evening meal. 4 hours of riding.

Wednesday: Refuge de Ruhles (refuge) to Soldeu (hotel)
We continue on routes which are very technical but superb, until we arrive at the Andorra border. Then we drop down into the Incls valley to Soldeu, where we rejoin civilisation. We spend the night in a four star hotel in Soldeu, and regain our baggage along with the transport. 4 hours of riding.

Thursday: Soldeu (hotel) to Engolaster
We stay in Andorra and climb up below the Tarter ski resort, then explore the Borders de Rigoller, a beautiful traditional Andorran valley. We travel to the Engolaster lake along a magnificent route which dominates the whole of the valley of Andorra la Vella. 4 hours of riding.

Friday: Angolaster (hotel) to Cap del Rec (refuge)
